LIVESTOCK CLAIM PROCESS
The Township of Scugog handles claims for damages under the Livestock, Poultry and Honey Bee Protection Act.
This Act provides for the payment of compensation in the prescribed legislated amount to the owner of livestock and poultry that have been killed or injured by coyotes, wolves or wild dogs.
All claims for compensation under the Act are subject to the Livestock Valuer's Inspection and report. Any claims for damages under this Act should be promptly direction to the Township of Scugog Municipal Office - 905 985 7346.
New Livestock/Poultry Claim Process
On July 1, 2011, the new Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program was launched, with the intention to make claims more efficient and accessible to farmers and their Municipalities.
In addition, please note that as of April 1, 2012, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs made it mandatory that when making a claim all livestock/Poultry owners will be required to provide thier evaluator with the documents listed below:
-a Social Insurance Number
-a Premises ID number
-a Farm Business Registration Number

Livestock Income Tax Information
An AGR-1 Tax Form containing the total dollar amount of claims for each year, will also be a part of your Income Tax Return if you have had a claim in the current tax year. This form will be provided to you by the Township of Scugog.
