Our fire suppression crew operates out of two stations - one located in Port Perry and one in Caesarea. The Port Perry station responds to calls within Wards 1, 2, 3 and 5. The Caesarea station responds to calls within Ward 4. The Township of Scugog has agreements with surrounding municipalities, such as the Township of Uxbridge and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Volunteer firefighters are the backbone of our Department. Volunteer firefighters go through an initial firefighter training program and continue to train on a weekly basis to ensure high quality responses. Volunteers are remunerated for emergency responses and training sessions. There are approximately 25 volunteers operating out of the Port Perry station and 25 out of the Caesarea station.
In addition to volunteers, the Port Perry station has a day time crew (Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) of three full-time firefighters who are capable of responding to medical calls on their own.
