FIRE PREVENTION WEEK
Fire Prevention Week is celebrated throughout North America in October during the week which contains October 9th, in memory of the great Chicago Fire.
The purpose of Fire Prevention Week is to remind citizens of the need to take various measures and precautions to prevent fires from occurring and especially to prevent injuries and deaths with associated with fires.
Each year the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) announces the theme for Fire Prevention Week.
During Fire Prevention Week the Fire Department hosts events for the public. At these events you are able to talk to firefighters, view some of the Fire Department's trucks, and pick up fire prevention pamphlets.
