Public Works and Parks
The Township of Scugog is committed to protecting and enhancing our urban and rural tree canopy, as trees are an essential part of our community and environment. Trees reduce the effects of many forms of pollution, create and enhance wildlife habitats, help reduce energy demands on your home, increase property values, and help make our Township beautiful.
As part of this commitment, the Township has identified a need for boulevard tree maintenance for one or more of the following reasons:
- To maintian an aesthetic shape of a tree;
- To remove dead, diseased, or interfering branches;
- To improve the structural integrity and health of the tree;
- To maintain safe clearances over the roadway, sidewalk, or walkway;
- To maintain safe sight lines;
- Other tree canopy management practices.
Commencing the week of March 17, 2014, the Township will be performing one or more of the above maintenance practices in selected areas. Please click here for the tree maintenance location map.
Please note: based on criteria, not all trees may be pruned in the specified locations.
