Installment Due Dates

The Township issues two tax bills per year. The interim bill is mailed in January of each year with installments due in February and April. The interim bill is based on 50% of the previous year's taxes and is shown as a reduction on the final bill. Normally the final bill is mailed in May with installments due in June and September. In order to satisfy the taxes for your property for the entire year, the full amounts of both the interim bill and the net balance on the final bill, must be paid.

Province-wide Standardized Tax Bill

In 2001, the Province introduced a standardized property tax bill to be used Province-wide for all properties. Both form and content have been prescribed by the Province. In addition to the assessment and property tax levy information, the bill will include an explanation of tax changes from the previous year to the current year. The explanation will indicate both reassessment related tax changes and the tax levy changes introduced by each of the levying bodies: the Township of Scugog, the Region of Durham and the School Boards.

Property taxes must be paid in full as billed. Tax rebates from successful applications will be processed separately.

Failure to receive a tax bill does not excuse a taxpayer from responsibility for payment nor relieve the assessed owner of liability for penalty due to late payment. Please ensure the tax department has your correct mailing address.
