The Township of Scugog has developed a long-term strategy devoted to strengthening transportation within the municipality, with a focus on fostering the use of more active travel modes such as walking and cycling. One part of our Active Transportation and Transportation Master Plan (AT and TMP) is the development of the trail along Old Rail Lane between the Water Street roundabout and the Boat launch.

Community and road safety continues to be a priority for the Township of Scugog. The Township has been actively working to improve safety for all road users (vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians, etc.), and to reduce speeds and speed related collisions across the Township.

Township crews worked through the weekend to clear debris and reopen roads where possible. Several roads remain closed due to trees in contact with hydro wires. Staff are working with hydro to clear these areas as quickly as possible, but it will take a couple more days to reopen all roads. In addition to roads, some public parks, sidewalks, and trails have debris or downed trees and may be closed.

Volunteers Needed for Canoe the Nonquon

The Scugog Shores Museum is looking for volunteers to assist as lake patrollers on Lake Scugog for our annual Canoe the Nonquon race.

Volunteers will be asked to patrol the lake from 9am to approximately 2pm on Saturday, June 4 and must be accessible by cell phone. Volunteer lake patrollers are essential in ensuring the safety of participants in the event and play an integral part in the event’s ability to take place.
