As a continuation to the Provincial Day of Action on Litter, we will now be promoting Waste-Free Wednesday Cleanups throughout the summer.
Encouraging Ontarians to get outside and take part in safe litter cleanups in their local communities, following public health measures and advice.

The Township of Scugog has had to close the bridge on Jobb Road, approximately 900 metres east of Regional Road 57, for safety reasons due to the deteriorated condition of the bridge. Staff are working on a design for the replacement of the bridge and the construction of the new bridge is currently in the forecast for 2023. Scugog – Effective 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 16 the province entered Step 3 of the Reopening Plan. The plan provides guidance for small businesses, retail and restaurant sector. Indoor gathering thresholds, outdoor recreation amenities have increased. Indoor social gatherings and organized public events are permitted with capacity limits. Masks must be worn and physical distancing must be maintained.

On July 12, 2021 the Penelakut Tribe in British Columbia shared the heartbreaking discovery of more than 160 unmarked graves at the former Kuper Island Residential School. It is very sobering and devastating to know that more children will continue to be found in the future. We know words are not enough, but we want to express our sadness for the Penelakut Tribe and for the families and survivors of this dark time in Canadian history.

Coming Soon! The Township Rotary Environmental Park, along the waterfront trails north of the Boat Launch, is being revitalized. The site has been prepped and staff have begun preparation for a pollinator and butterfly garden that will include native plant species best suited for bee and butterfly habitat. Meandering paths through the garden will connect the west and east waterfront trails. Stay tuned for more information.
