Cooling Centre to be opened in Port Perry over the weekend

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Durham Region lasting into Sunday (July 19, 2020) due to extreme heat and humidity. For residents in need of a cooling centre during the extreme heat, you may visit the following locations:

Scugog Recreation Centre – Pad 2 Lobby***
Located at 1655 Reach Street, Port Perry

Friday, July 17
11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday, July 18
11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sunday, July 19
11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Splash Pad
Located in Palmer Park, Port Perry

Open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Birdseye Pool
Located in Palmer Park, Port Perry

Open for Public Swim**
Friday, July 17
12- 2 p.m., 2:30- 4 p.m., 6- 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 18
1- 2:45 p.m., 3- 4:45 p.m., 5- 6:45 p.m.

Sunday, July 19
1- 2:45 p.m., 3- 4:45 p.m., 5- 6:45 p.m.
**For all swims, you must pre-book & pre-pay with a reservation that can be made online at scugog.ca/registration

***Due to the on-going COVID-19 situation, some guidelines will be in place at the cooling centre, including; distance separation of 6 feet (2 meters) must be obtained unless residents are from the same household, masks or *face coverings are required unless there is a medical reason not to do so and a maximum of 10 people will be permitted in the facility at one time.
*Disposable face coverings will be available to residents seeking heat relief and without a face covering.
