We are pleased to offer a variety of curriculum based programs for schools. All programs can be tailored to the unique needs of the class.
Set your sights on the Museum and explore the joys and hardships of life for the early settlers. Through participation and interaction students will explore how the early settlers carved out an existence for themselves in the New World wilderness by clearing land, constructing homes and building villages. Students will investigate the origins and contributions of the early settlers and discover the relationship they had with their First Nations neighbours.
As a result of our partnership with the Mississaugas of Scugog Island, students will have the unique opportunity to explore moth modern and traditional First Nation culture in our Ojibway Heritage Interpretive Lands. Students will listen to traditional stories in the wigwam, examine the Museum's collection of First Nation artifacts including a birch-bark canoe and witness a traditional fire-starting demonstration. An interactive trading game will highlight the relationship between the Ojibway and early settlers.
Visit the Museum Village all decorated for the holidays and experience the significance of this festive time of year for the early settlers. Learn where many Christmas traditions first originated and what they meant to those who started them long ago. Come and celebrate with us with food, crafts, and games.
