The Great Blue Heron Casino is one of Ontario's leading casino destinations, located on reserve lands of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, just east of Port Perry. Opened on January 31, 1997, the casino started as an economic development plan of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation to provide opportunities for the First Nation people.

Plans for the casino were achieved through an agreement with Casinos Austria International and its local partners, the Steiner Group and Sonco Gaming Inc. who developed and operate the casino on behalf of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

Since the casino opened, the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation have donated more than 10 million dollars to the Township of Scugog, various charities and non-profit organizations.
