Pitch in Week 2021 - April 18-26 - Activities cancelled

Earth Day 2021 - April 22nd - Make every day Earth Day!

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen how essential parks, paths, trails, lakes and greenspaces are to our mental health and well-being. Not only that, more and more people are taking pride in their neighborhoods and the environment around them.  Pitch-In Week is an opportunity to give back to these spaces by cleaning them up.

During this unprecedented time in our lives there are still things we can do to feel connected and contribute to our communities.  Even while practicing social distancing you are encouraged to get outside and enjoy the fresh air with members of your household. April is starting to bring nicer weather so we are encouraging everyone individually to contribute to the Spring Clean.

April 22nd is Earth Day.  We’d love for you to participate from afar.  Show us your #EarthDayatHome #DurhamStrong activities and tag us on social media.

Ideas to get you started:

1. Pick up litter

Help clean up the planet this Earth Day by spending time picking up litter around your neighborhood. Better yet, encourage your friends to pick up litter in their own areas, so you can spread the Earth Day goodness around.  Please follow all Ontario Regulations and Guidelines with respect to COVID-19.

2. Craft a nature collage.

Celebrate Earth Day this year by making an all-natural art collage with things you’ve found in nature, like leaves, pressed flowers, pieces of bark and other small items. Collect items while you’re out for a hike or exploring your neighbourhood.

3. Earth Day Activity

Show us your earth day crafts.  Did you color a picture, create a collage or bake some cookies.
