The Township of Scugog recreation staff offer many opportunities for adults to get active in recreational programs, classes and clubs. 

Fitness

The Township of Scugog recreation staff partner with Ashlea Jones Athletes in Training to offer a variety of group fitness programs.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Participants must arrive fully dressed for their program. No change room facilities will be open. 
  • Participants must wear a mask at all times while in the facility, until the start of the program.
  • Once in their exercise space participants may remove their mask to participate in their program.
  • All participants will be required to disinfect their equipment before leaving the program. 

Arrivals and Departures

Participants must use the entrance that corresponds with their scheduled program.

  • All programs running out of the Studio, Rec Room, Lookout, Ice Pad 2 or Meeting Rooms will use the north/east pad 2 doors to enter.
  • All programs running out of the Community Centre will use the main east doors to enter.
  • All programs running out of Ice Pad 1 will use the main south arena doors.

The entrance doors will remain locked until 10 minutes prior, when participants may enter. Doors will be locked when the class starts and no admittance will be given after the doors are locked. Participants will be asked screening questions prior to their program beginning. All participants will be required to exit the facility using their designated exit for their program within 10 minutes of the program end time.

Pickleball 

Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It is played on a badminton sized court with a slightly modified tennis net, a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. In partnership with the Port Perry Pickleball Club, the Recreation staff offer a drop-in program.

Here’s what you need to know:

Arrivals and Departures

  • Participants are able to drop-in for their desired timeslot based on their skill level.
  • When participants arrive they will use the main doors at the front (south) of the Scugog Community Recreation Centre. 
  • Participants will complete their screening questions online at covidassessment.scugog.ca or by using the QR code at the facility. Once completed, they will show their check mark to the front desk staff and pay the $3 admission fee prior to entering the program.

Safety and Sanitation

  • Masks must be worn in the facility until play begins.
  • Once on the court participants may remove their masks.
  • Participants must use their own pickleball paddle. No sharing of equipment is permitted.
  • Participants are required to sanitize their space and main touch points before leaving.
  • No food or beverage, with the exception of water, is permitted in the facility at this time.

Walking Program

The walking program will resume at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre as of Septemeber 20, 2021. 

The walking program at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre runs Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Participants can enjoy indoor exercise by walking around ice pad two. There is no cost to this program.

Participants should enter the building through the front doors of the arena. Participants then sign in, complete their online screening at covidassessment.scugog.ca and may begin their walk.

Masks are required when walking through the facility but may be removed when walking around the ice pad, keeping a two (2) metre physical distance from all other participants.

The walking program is not offered on any statutory holidays. For any inquiries about the walking program please contact the Recreation Staff

Port Perry Seniors Club
The Port Perry Seniors Club is a vibrant, volunteer driven, multicultural, and social learning centre for anyone 50+. They offer a wide variety of programs and services to those in our community and surrounding areas.
