Scugog Line 3

The Regional Municipality of Durham will begin construction of watermain and water services on Scugog Line 3 from Old Simcoe Road to Simcoe Street in the Township of Scugog on Monday, May 16, 2022 to approximately July 31, 2022. Work will also include watermain construction along Simcoe Street from Scugog Line 3 to Well 6, and Line 3 road restoration which will follow the July 31, 2022 date noted, and schedules may overlap at times. The Region will provide surrounding residents that may be impacted with another Notice of Construction letter prior to work commencing on Simcoe Street for a new watermain installation. Please refer to the attached map for the construction limits.

Construction Schedules

The Region’s contractor Coco Paving Inc. will begin mobilizing the week of May 16, 2022 and anticipates completing the watermain work on Scugog Line 3 by July 31, 2022. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Lane Closures and Parking

Scugog Line 3 will be open to local traffic only for the duration of the contract. Lane closures down to one lane will occur during construction and delays should be anticipated. Pedestrians will be detoured around the construction work zone and are asked to exercise caution when in the area.

Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Temporary Water Service Interruptions

During the course of this work, it is not expected that residents will experience water supply interruptions as houses are on existing wells and construction is for new watermain. However, in case a water interruption is anticipated, the contractor will notify impacted properties at least 24 hours in advance of any required service interruptions to give the residents time to prepare. During a service interruption, it would be recommended that residents keep a supply of water in containers for drinking, cooking and general purposes.
