Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) - May 17, 2023

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, in co-operation with the City of Pickering, Town of Whitby, and townships of Scugog and Uxbridge, is rehabilitating Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23). As part of the construction, portions of Lake Ridge Road will be closed temporarily.

When:  May 23 to 24. Road reconstruction work is ongoing on Lake Ridge Road until September 2023.

Where: Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) from north of Concession Road 9/Myrtle Road to south of Townline Road in the City of Pickering, Town of Whitby, and townships of Scugog and Uxbridge.

This closure will be in conjunction to the current road closure on Lake Ridge Road from Townline Road to south of Chalk Lake Road.

Why: For road reconstruction work.

Note: Detour signs will be posted. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews. Access to residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible.

Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) - May 16, 2023

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Lake Ridge Road and Goodwood Road in the Township of Scugog.

When: May 19 to June 9, 2023. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.

Where: Lane restrictions will be in place daily on Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23), from 2.3 kilometres south of Goodwood Road to Goodwood Road; and on Goodwood Road (Regional Road 21), from 278 metres east of Lake Ridge Road to west of Marsh Hill Road, in the Township of Scugog.

Why: The lane restrictions will be in place for the installation of paved shoulders.

Note: The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.

Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) - May 5, 2023

The Regional Municipality of Durham, in co-operation with the Town of Whitby, City of Pickering, Township of Scugog, and Township of Uxbridge, is rehabilitating Lake Ridge Road from 100 metres north of Myrtle Road to 1.6 kilometres north of Chalk Lake Road. The work includes asphalt pulverizing, excavation, grading, drainage, storm sewer installations, culvert replacements, granular base, curb and gutter, hot mix paving, roadway illumination, pavement markings and signage.

Construction Schedule:

The Region’s contractor, Green Infrastructure Partners Inc (GIP Inc.) will be closing access to Lake Ridge Road from north of Concession Road 9/Myrtle Road to south of Townline Road to safely complete the installations of several deep cross culverts from Tuesday May 23, at 6 a.m. to Wednesday May 24, at 7 p.m. This short duration road closure will be in addition to the existing long duration road closure that is currently underway from Townline Road to south of Chalk Lake Rd. If unfavourable weather occurs, this closure may be extended.

Residents should expect minor traffic delays and are asked to exercise additional caution for the safety of the construction workers. Access to residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible. Notification will be given to residents if vehicles need to be moved out of their driveways.

Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses. Regional Road 57 - May 1, 2023

The Regional Municipality of Durham is proceeding with the addition of paved shoulders on Regional Road 57 from 160 metres west of Brenda’s Lane to 240 metres north of Scugog Point Road and from 550 metres west of Cedardale Road to 480 metres east of Viewlake Road, in the Township of Scugog. Work will consist of asphalt removal, placement of granular material, placement of asphalt paved shoulders and new pavement markings.

Construction Schedule:

The Region’s contractor, GIP Paving Inc., will start work on May 1 and is expected to complete the work by June 2. Please note that unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Simcoe Street (Regional Road 2) - April 27, 2023

Work will consist of asphalt removal, placement of granular material, placement of asphalt paved shoulders and new pavement markings.

Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) - April 17, 2023

The Region’s contractor, Green Infrastructure Partners Inc (formerly Coco Paving Inc.,“GIP Inc.”), will be remobilizing the week of April 17, 2023, to complete Phase Two of the construction by September 2023.  GIP Inc., will be closing access to Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) from north of Concession Road 9 / Myrle Road to Chalk Lake Road to safely complete the installations of several deep cross culverts from Friday, April 28, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. to Monday, May 1, 2023, at 6:00 a.m. If unfavourable weather occurs, this closure may be extended.

The construction this year will also require a long-term closure of Lakeridge Road at Chalk Lake Road starting at the beginning of May and extending until the beginning of June to replace the storm sewers.

Old Simcoe Road & Reach Street - Fall 2022

As part of the Region of Durham’s ongoing infrastructure maintenance program, sewermains in the Township of Scugog are scheduled to be cleaned and CIPP lined during the remainder of the 2022 construction season.

The contractor, Clean Water Works Inc. / Capital Sewer Services Inc. will be mobilizing equipment and personnel on-site to commence work in early October. The project is estimated to be completed within ten (10) weeks.

The attached map identifies the street where the cleaning and CIPP lining will be taking place.

 Simcoe Street (Regional Road 2) - September 6, 2022

The Regional Municipality of Durham is proceeding with road resurfacing on Simcoe Street (Regional Road 2) from north of Greenway Boulevard to south of Beech Street, in the Township of Scugog. Work will consist of asphalt removal, structure adjustments, curb & gutter replacement, sidewalk replacement, placement of asphalt and new pavement markings.

Construction Schedule

The Region’s contractor, GIP Paving Inc., will start work on September 6 and is expected to complete the work by October 21. Please note that unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Lane Restrictions

Daily lane restrictions will be required for the duration of the project to complete the work in a safe and efficient manner. The Region’s contractor, GIP Paving Inc., will be closing access to Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) from north of Concession Road 9 / Myrle Road to Chalk Lake Road to safely complete the installations of several deep cross culverts from Friday, September 9, 2022 at 7 p.m. to Monday, September 12, 2022 at 6 a.m. If unfavourable weather occurs, this closure may be extended.

Residents will be required to choose alternate routes in accordance with signed detour traffic routing are asked to exercise additional caution for the safety of the construction workers. Access to residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible. Notification will be given to residents if vehicles need to be moved out of their driveways.

Scugog Line 3 - May 16, 2022

The Regional Municipality of Durham will begin construction of watermain and water services on Scugog Line 3 from Old Simcoe Road to Simcoe Street in the Township of Scugog on Monday, May 16, 2022 to approximately July 31, 2022. Work will also include watermain construction along Simcoe Street from Scugog Line 3 to Well 6, and Line 3 road restoration which will follow the July 31, 2022 date noted, and schedules may overlap at times. The Region will provide surrounding residents that may be impacted with another Notice of Construction letter prior to work commencing on Simcoe Street for a new watermain installation. Please refer to the attached map for the construction limits.

Construction Schedules

The Region’s contractor Coco Paving Inc. will begin mobilizing the week of May 16, 2022 and anticipates completing the watermain work on Scugog Line 3 by July 31, 2022. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Lane Closures and Parking

Scugog Line 3 will be open to local traffic only for the duration of the contract. Lane closures down to one lane will occur during construction and delays should be anticipated. Pedestrians will be detoured around the construction work zone and are asked to exercise caution when in the area.

Temporary Water Service Interruptions

During the course of this work, it is not expected that residents will experience water supply interruptions as houses are on existing wells and construction is for new watermain. However, in case a water interruption is anticipated, the contractor will notify impacted properties at least 24 hours in advance of any required service interruptions to give the residents time to prepare. During a service interruption, it would be recommended that residents keep a supply of water in containers for drinking, cooking and general purposes.
