Scugog Delivering on $9.5 Million in Infrastructure Projects

Active projects include improvements for roads, facilities, and parks planned for 2022.

At a council meeting held on Monday, June 27 staff presented an update on all roads, facility, and parks construction currently underway in 2022. Over 90 roads and other infrastructure projects are either underway or nearing completion this year. Due to the careful management of Scugog dedicated reserves and asset management, progress is being made in many areas across Scugog.

Scugog Youth Initiative Grants - Submissions Now Being Received until August 19, 2022

The Golf Donations Committee has opened the annual submission window for the distribution of funds raised at the 2021 Fore Scugog Charity Golf Tournament. To provide youth organizations an opportunity to access funds so they can continue to help / offer programs to youth in Scugog.

A new exhibit will be displayed at the Scugog Shores Museum Village and Archives for the late cartoonist Jimmie Frise. Best known for his Toronto Star series ‘Birdseye Centre,’ Frise was born and raised on Scugog Island before rising to cartoon fame from the 1920s-1940s. This exhibit will include a selection of Frise’s works, including the newly restored painting ‘The Last Muskie’. We would like to extend a big thank you to the Lake Scugog Historical Society for sponsoring the conservation!

Heat Warning In Scugog

A heat warning has been issued in Scugog from June 21 to June 22, 2022. With humidex bringing temperatures up to almost 40°, it is important to stay cool and seek shelter when needed.

Scugog will have a few cooling stations open to the public throughout the days that you can utilize to break from the heat. These cooling stations include:

Pollinator Garden

The Pollinator Garden is a partnership project lead by a committee comprised of members from the Port Perry Rotary Club, Scugog staff, Scugog Environmental and Accessibility Committees, a Youth community member, a representative from Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation and community garden volunteers.
