Heritage

The Township of Scugog has a rich heritage. Our community recognizes efforts to protect and promote our heritage through an awards program, our Heritage Conservation District (HCD) and a heritage plaque program.

The Scugog Heritage Advisory Committee handles Scugog's heritage-related matters, including decisions about our Heritage Register

Heritage Register

Section 27 of the Ontario Heritage Act states that the municipal clerk shall keep a register of properties that are of cultural heritage value in the municipality. These local, publicly accessible registers contain information about all properties designated under sections 29 or 41 of the act. They may also include a list of properties that have not been designated but that the municipality has indicated has cultural heritage value. They are often referred to as “listed properties.”

For more information and to see Scugog's current list of properties please visit Scugog Heritage Register page.
