Heat Warning in Effect – July 26 to 28

Please be advised a heat warning is in effect today, July 26, through Friday, July 28. Temperatures for July 26 are expected to reach 30 degrees with humidex in the upper thirties for both July 26 and 27. Friday, July 28, is expected to be even hotter with humidex reaching the forties. During this time, it is important to monitor yourself and others and watch for signs of heat illness.

These high temperatures and humidity can also affect air quality. Please keep this in mind when outside and utilize the various cooling stations within the town:

  • Scugog Community Recreation Centre: 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Scugog Memorial Public Library: Wednesday and Friday – 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday - 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.,
  • Birdseye Pool: 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (check schedule to see when public programs are running)
  • Splash Pad: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Stay safe, monitor yourself and your environment, drink lots of water, and take advantage of these cooling stations when needed.
