Herbicide Spraying in Palmer Park Waterfront Area Postponed to August 31, 2026
Scugog – Please be advised the herbicide spraying taking place in the Palmer Park waterfront area (originally scheduled for Friday, August 28), in partnership with Kawartha Conservation, has been postponed until Monday, August 31.
The Palmer Park playground will be temporarily closed during the spraying and is expected to reopen later in the day; however, the spraying area will remain closed to the public for an expected 48 hours. Signage will be put in place to identify the spraying area.
This herbicide spraying (a foliar spray with Imazapyr) is being done to deter the spread of invasive phragmites in the area. The spraying will be done using approved equipment, PPE, and methods of application informed by the Ontario Invasive Plant Council’s Best Management Practices.
We recommend keeping these closures in mind when planning visits to the playground and surrounding areas. To view alternate playground locations, visit our Parks and Playgrounds page.
