June 2023 is Recreation and Parks Month
Each June, municipalities across Ontario celebrate June is Recreation and Parks Month (JRPM) to promote the benefits of being active while also recognizing the many contributions that recreation and parks make to our quality of life. Whether it be programs where children can exercise and meet new friends or a simple stroll through the park with family, recreation and parks have a positive impact on our home.
This month, let’s take the time to celebrate JRPM as a community! We want to see all the fun and creative ways that you utilize parks and recreation within Scugog. To do so, we have created a photo contest with a different activity to partake in each day! Take a photo of you, your family and friends participating in these activities, email them to firstname.lastname@example.org by 11:59 p.m. on June 30 and you will be entered into a draw to win a FREE Family Season’s Swim Pass to Birdseye Pool!
One of the many activities listed is our 53rd Annual Canoe the Nonquon event! Celebrate JRPM by joining us for the race down the twisty Nonquon River and along the shores of Lake Scugog. Whether amateur or professional, older or younger, all are welcome to attend this wonderful fundraising event! What better way to kick off the month?
One month is not enough time to showcase all the recreation and parks opportunities within our community though, so be sure to follow @recscugog on Instagram to get the scoop on all things parks and rec within the township throughout the year! Want to see what your kids are up to at camp? Want to get a better understanding of our programs before registering? Or do you just want to see some fun content our recreation staff create? Look no further! Follow @recscugog and turn on notifications to never miss an update! The page will be going live June 9, 2023.
