Lakefront Skating Rink Closed for the Season

After a very successful first season, we will be closing our Lakefront Skating Rink in Joe Fowler North Diamond for the season. Due to warmer temperatures and rain accumulation, the surface on the rink has deteriorated and is no longer fit for operations and therefore can not be maintained. For the safety of users and the rink’s sustainability, the pad cannot be used while unmaintained.

We absolutely loved seeing everyone’s smiling faces on the rink; we hope it brought you as much joy as it did us!

This project would not have been possible without our partners, thank you all for the support you provided throughout the season! Generous funding was provided by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) and the following partners:

Platinum

Silver

Bronze

Although this season is at its end, it is not the end for the Lakefront Skating Rink! We are planning to re-open the rink through the 2024-25 winter season; be sure to keep an eye out for when it is open again!

Further information about the Lakefront Skate and Market, including how to become a partner or vendor, can be found on our Lakefront Skate and Market page. If you are looking for other ways to skate, we offer drop-in skating at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre and Blackstock Recreation Complex. Our drop-in program schedule can be found in our Leisure and Activity Guide.
