Notice of Study Completion Scugog Line 8 (Bridge No. 9): Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Addendum

A Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Amendment has been completed for the bridge on Scugog Line 8 over the Nonquon River (Bridge No. 9). The original EA was completed in 2017 and recommended repairing the existing bridge and reopening the bridge with a limited load. However, based on further assessment of the bridge an EA addendum has been completed and preferred alternative is now a full replacement of the bridge to improve safety, eliminate load restrictions, extend the life of the bridge and lower the overall life cycle costs for the bridge. Replacement of the bridge will also allow for a wider deck to provide a sidewalk for pedestrians. A map detailing the area can be viewed here.

The Class EA Addendum is available for review on the Township’s MyScugog website. As well, a hard copy can be reviewed at: Municipal Offices, 181 Perry Street, Port Perry.
Anyone with an interest in the study is encouraged to review the addendum to the Environmental Assessment and provide comments to the Township of Scugog.

If there are outstanding concerns that the Project may adversely impact constitutionally protected Aboriginal and treaty rights, which cannot be resolved in discussion with the Township, then a person or party may request that the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks make an order for the Project to comply with Section 16 of the Environmental Assessment Act. This is referred to as a Section 16 Order, which addresses Individual Environmental Assessments.
