Oil and Grit Separator Installation – Water Street

The Township of Scugog has contracted Mianco Group to construct upgrades to the stormwater sewer outlet from Water Street to the Baagwating Stormwater Management Pond. This pond is located on the east side of Water Street, between the south baseball diamond and Curts Street.

Oil and grit separators are underground storage tanks designed to protect waterways from suspended sediment, free oils, heavy particulates, floating debris and pollutants that attach to particles. This oil and grit separator is being installed with support from Kawartha Conservation, the Scugog Lake Stewards, and the Healthy Lake Scugog Steering Committee as part of the Lake Scugog Enhancement Project to mitigate the stormwater inputs into the lake.

The work is scheduled to begin mid November 2023 and is expected to be completed by early February 2024.

During the construction period, traffic will be maintained in both directions on Water Street with traffic controls in place.
