Grant is part of more than $6.3 million given by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada to public safety organizations across the country
Scugog Fire & Emergency Services strengthens emergency response thanks to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada® Grant

Scugog - As first responders continue serving the Township of Scugog, it is essential that Scugog Fire & Emergency Services has the tools needed to respond effectively in emergencies. The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada® has recognized this need and recently awarded the department a $25,519 grant to purchase three MSA Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) Packs and three facepieces.
The new RIT Packs are lifesaving equipment specifically designed for firefighter rescue. If a firefighter becomes trapped, injured, lost, or runs low on air inside a fire or other hazardous environment, a Rapid Intervention Team can deploy the RIT Pack to provide an emergency air supply while working to bring that firefighter to safety.
“We are extremely grateful to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada and our local Firehouse Subs® restaurant in Port Perry for this vital support,” said Mike Matthews, Fire Chief of Scugog. “Having reliable, up-to-date equipment enhances our ability to protect lives and better serve our community.”
For more than 10 years, charitable donations have powered the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada’s mission to support first responders and public safety organizations nationwide. Since 2015, the Foundation has awarded 438 grants totaling over $6.3 million to public safety organizations.
