Scugog Fire Launches Official Social Media Channels
Scugog Fire & Emergency Services is excited to announce the launch of its official social media channels on Facebook and Instagram.
The new platforms will provide residents with timely information about emergency incidents, including road closures due to an emergency response, fire safety, emergency preparedness, community events, recruitment opportunities, training activities, and updates from across the department.
“Our goal is to create another way to connect with the community we serve,” said Fire Chief Mike Matthews. “These channels will allow us to share important safety information, highlight the work of our firefighters, and keep residents informed about programs and initiatives happening throughout the year.”
Residents can expect to see:
- Updates for emergency incidents, including road closure information
- Sharing Township of Scugog messaging during emergency events or declared significant weather events
- Information on emergency preparedness
- Fire prevention and public education messages
- Seasonal and public safety campaigns
- Community event information
- Recruitment and training highlights
- Department announcements and achievements
- Behind-the-scenes stories featuring Scugog firefighters and staff
The social media initiative supports the department’s ongoing commitment to public education, community engagement, transparency, and community risk reduction. By providing another avenue for communication, the department hopes to strengthen its connection with residents while sharing important information that helps keep the community safe and informed. This initiative is part of ongoing communications enhancements, not only for Fire and Emergency Services but for the Township of Scugog as a whole.
Scugog Fire reminds residents that its social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day and should never be used to report emergencies. In an emergency, always call 9-1-1.
Residents are encouraged to follow the department and join the conversation as Scugog Fire shares the people, programs, and services that support emergency response and public safety throughout the Township.
