Scugog Fire receives sensory support kits to enhance inclusive emergency response

Scugog – Scugog Fire & Emergency Services has received First Responder Sensory Support Kits through a generous donation from North City Insurance Brokers, facilitated by the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council (FMPFSC).

The donation is part of a province-wide initiative that has distributed 200 First Responder Sensory Support Kits to fire departments across Ontario. Developed in partnership with Autism Canada, the kits are designed to help firefighters better support individuals with autism and sensory sensitivities during emergency situations.

Each kit contains practical tools designed to reduce stress, improve communication, and create more positive interactions during emergency responses. The kits provide firefighters with additional resources to better support individuals experiencing sensory overload or communication challenges.

Scugog Fire & Emergency Services is committed to ensuring all residents receive the assistance they need during an emergency. If you or someone you know has special needs or a disability that may require additional assistance, we encourage you to complete our Person(s) Requiring Assistance form. This information helps firefighters better prepare to meet individual needs when responding to an emergency.
