Status Update on the New Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter
On March 23, 2026, Township of Uxbridge staff provided reports to Scugog Council outlining progress on the new Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter. The Township was pleased to share that the project remains on schedule, on budget, and on track to deliver the intended benefits.
The new Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter is progressing as planned. The 6,457-square-foot facility at 5500 Lakeridge Road is advancing through its construction schedule, with footings poured, ICF walls constructed, and trusses installed. Exterior colours for the roof, cladding, windows, and doors have been selected. Interior colour selections will be finalized in the near future and presented to the Accessibility Committee to ensure compliance with AODA requirements. The project remains on track for substantial completion in mid to late October, with an opening anticipated in December 2026. View the full report here.
