Council Highlights – November 2025
Scugog –The Township of Scugog held various public meetings throughout the month of November. Below are some highlights of what was discussed at these meetings:
General Purpose and Administration Committee – November 10, 2025
- Council had an in-depth discussion regarding Blackstock Arena Remediation Options. Council directed Staff to bring back a proposed priority plan addressing the scope, timing, and cost of all anticipated repairs for the Blackstock Recreation Centre to ensure that it remains a viable facility for the community.
- Baagwating Stormwater Management Pond Remediation Options: Council endorsed in principle the plan to implement Option 1- Large Wetland Pond.
Special Council Meeting (Budget) – November 17, 2025
- The 2026 Draft Consolidated Budget with 2027 to 2030 Capital Forecast was presented to Council. Council made the following amendments:
- 2026 Capital Budget be amended, with respect to project PST004, to increase the 2026 budget amount of $216,000 to reflect Council’s endorsement in principle of Option 1 with respect to the Baagwating Stormwater Management Pond Remediation Options.
- 2026 capital budget and 5-Year Capital Forecast be amended to reposition, Queen Street Corridor Operation and Design Study to 2026.
- Including the addition of a Mayoral Directive to add a permanent, part-time position of "Grant Writer" to the 2026 operating budget.
Council Meeting – November 24, 2025
- Council endorsed the request by Aleafia Farms Inc. for municipal support in its application to Health Canada
- Council received a presentation from Vision Zero, A Strategic Road Safety Action Plan for the Durham Region. The full presentation can be viewed through the November 24 Council Meeting agenda.
- Council approved the 2026 Schedule for Council, GPA and PCA meetings.
