Remembrance Day in Scugog

Scugog – Please be advised the Township of Scugog Municipal Office and Fire Administration Office will be closed Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Remembrance Day. These facilities will reopen November 12 at 8:30 a.m.

Recreation programs at the Scugog and Blackstock Arenas will be cancelled for the day, with the status of private rentals being up to the discretion of the organizer.

In addition, there will be various temporary road closures for the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419’s Remembrance Day Services and Parade. These closures include:

  • Water Street from North to Queen Street
  • Queen Street from Water to Perry Street
  • Perry Street from Queen to North Street
  • North Street from Perry to Water Street

The day will begin with a brief service at the Scugog Library from 10:00 to 10:15 a.m. Attendees will then participate in a parade from the Library to the Municipal Office, following Water Street, Queen Street, and Perry Street. At approximately 10:45 a.m., attendees will gather at the Municipal Office for a Scugog Cenotaph service.

Closures are expected to begin at 9:00 a.m., with rolling openings following the parade. North and Perry Street will remain closed during the Cenotaph service.

A service will also be held at the Blackstock Cenotaph, starting at 11:00 a.m. A light lunch and refreshments will be served afterwards at the Blackstock Recreation Complex.

Everyone is welcome to attend these services and honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought to uphold everything we hold dear.
