Scugog Council approves Fire Master Plan

The Fire Master Plan was presented to the General Purpose and Administration Committee Meeting on March 2, 2026, by Emergency Management Group (EMG). The Plan is the result of several months of research, information gathering, outreach, engagement and consultation, and a comprehensive analysis of all divisions and components of Scugog Fire and Emergency Services. The Fire Master Plan was accepted and endorsed by Council at the March 23, 2026, Council Meeting, thereby providing approval to move forward with implementing the recommendations.
The Fire Master Plan includes 57 short‑term and long‑term recommendations that establish a clear strategic vision for Scugog Fire and Emergency Services over the next ten years. It covers details on fire services administration, training, prevention, suppression, equipment, and community emergency planning, and outlines planned actions, estimated costs, and suggested timelines for completion of the recommendations.
“I am very pleased with the work completed by our consultants in the preparation of the Fire Master Plan and with Council’s endorsement of this important document,” said Fire Chief Mike Matthews. “The Plan sets a strong foundation for the future of our service, and I look forward to reviewing the recommendations in detail and working toward their thoughtful implementation.”
The public is invited to review the Fire Master Plan.
