Update on Your Voice, Your Fairgrounds
Scugog — Your Voice, Your Fairgrounds is a community-led initiative focused on listening to citizens about what the Port Perry Fairgrounds means to them and what values should guide its future. The project is designed to meet people where they already are and to offer multiple, accessible ways to participate. The focus is on listening first and ensuring everyone has a fair opportunity to share their perspectives.
Community Survey Now Open – Registration Required
This survey is part of the Township’s Listening & Discovery phase. No plans or proposals have been developed. We welcome all perspectives.
Your feedback will help us better understand what matters most to the community and what principles should guide the future of the Fairgrounds.
The survey will be open from December 15, 2025, to January 26, 2026.
Registration is required before participating in the survey. This ensures each person can participate only once and helps support equal opportunity for participation.
Please click the Log In / Join button at the top of the project page to register and access the survey. The survey takes approximately 5–10 minutes to complete, and all questions are optional. All responses will remain confidential and will be reported only in summary form.
How Early Engagement Is Informing the Process
Earlier this fall, informal community pop-ins were held across the Township as early listening opportunities. These sessions were designed to gather perspectives, hear stories, and begin identifying emerging themes ahead of broader engagement.
All written input collected at these sessions has been retained for the duration of the project, digitized, and securely stored. This input will be considered alongside survey responses and other engagement activities as part of the final engagement synthesis.
Call for Community Connectors
Community Connectors help extend the conversation beyond formal consultation settings. These volunteers gather perspectives through everyday conversations within neighbourhoods, social groups, cultural communities, workplaces, and other local networks. Their involvement helps ensure a broad range of voices from across Scugog are reflected in the process.
More information about becoming a Community Connector is available on the project page.
Next Steps
Darwin Pivot has met with the Port Perry Agricultural Society throughout the project and will continue these discussions, along with targeted conversations with seniors and youth to gather perspectives across generations.
Following the first round of engagement, input will be analyzed and summarized in an interim update to Council. Council will then consider next steps, including whether to proceed with further community engagement to explore future directions for the Fairgrounds. A full project timeline is available on the project page.
We thank everyone who attended the in-person pop-ins and hope you continue to submit your values and ideas as the project continues! Questions, comments, and concerns can be sent to media@scugog.ca
