Thank you for choosing to host your event in the Township of Scugog! The information below will help guide you through submitting your Special Event Permit application.
Before you begin, please read the following carefully:
Before starting your application, you are required to review the Special Events Planning Guide and the Special Events Policy. An accessible version of the Planning Guide is also available upon request.
Which application applies to you?
Events on Municipal Property — A permit is required for all outdoor special events held on Township-owned property, including roads and road allowances, parks, parking lots, open spaces, walkways, and piers, where the event includes any of the following: food given or sold to the public, alcohol, fireworks, sound amplification, tents, amusement rides, use of electricity, fencing, or an expected attendance of more than 150 people.
Events on Private Property — A permit may be required for events held on private property (such as weddings, large family gatherings, or reunions) if your event involves any of the following: selling or serving alcohol, outdoor setup of structures such as tents larger than 10×10, use of portable washroom facilities, or amplified music or loud noise after 11:00 p.m. This includes real property that is not owned or controlled by the Municipality.
Submission Deadlines — Please plan ahead:
- Events with attendance under 500, or returning major events: submit at least 60 days (2 months) in advance
- Events with attendance of 500 or more, or new tourism events: submit at least 90 days (3 months) in advance
⚠️ Applications submitted late or incomplete may not receive approval and a permit may not be issued.
