Camps and School Break Activities

Participants can register for camp online using our registration software. Registration can also be done in-person at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre or over the phone by calling 905-985-8698. If you require a payment plan, you will need to register over the phone or in-person. 

Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Extended care supervision is also offered at an additional cost in the morning from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and in the afternoon from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Staff are required to identify the parent/guardian of each child by requesting government issued photo identification before camp staff will release campers. Please ensure all adults with pick-up permissions are listed when registering.

Camp Scugog takes great pride in the amazing leaders we have providing engaging activities for all campers. All leaders are required to have certification in Standard First Aid and CPR level C as well as High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development. Leaders also receive extensive pre-season training focusing on leadership, inclusion, safety, and creativity while maintaining a child-first approach.

The Township of Scugog is committed to providing quality programming for children and youth. We are a registered member of the Parks and Recreation Ontario’s HIGH FIVE Program. HIGH FIVE is built on the belief that all children deserve to have a sport and recreation experience that supports their development. General camp information will be emailed the week prior to the registered week of camp. The Remind app will also be used for communication as needed and if immediate communication is required, staff will call the parent/guardian.

Our goal for our camps is to provide a healthy, safe, positive, and fun experience for all. Each camper will be asked to agree to a code of conduct while at camp. Campers who are unable or unwilling to follow the camper code of conduct may be asked to leave camp to protect the safety of all participants.

The Township of Scugog strictly adheres to the age requirements of each camp. Proof of age may be required for select programs. 

If a camper falls ill while at camp, they will be placed in a quiet room with a staff person and isolated from the rest of their camp group. The parent/guardian will be contacted to pick up their camper immediately. 

Campers should bring a nut free lunch, snacks, refillable water bottle, non-mark running shoes, and extra pair of clothing. All items should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Personal belongings and toys will not be permitted at camp.

Our summer camp program will provide SPF 30 sunscreen for each child in camp. Please apply sunscreen to your child(ren) every morning before drop-off. Camp staff will assist with the application of sunscreen for each child in the afternoon. If you opt out of the sunscreen program, please send your child with lotion that is clearly labelled with their name.

The Township of Scugog provides integrated experiences for eligible children requiring extra support. To ensure a recreational or camp experience is provided to as many participants as possible, requests for March Break support are required by November 1 and Summer support by February 1 to allow adequate time to assess and arrange for program support. 

You may need extra support if: 

• Extra support is used at school 

• Extra help is needed at home for basic care 
• You have a physical, medical, behavioral and/or developmental disability that could affect your safety or ability to participate 

The Township of Scugog has the right to remove participants from a program if they cannot follow the code of conduct. The Township of Scugog Refund Policy will apply.

Some camp programs include swimming in the afternoons. All campers will have the option to take the swim test during their first time at the pool.

• Children 6 to 9 years who do not pass the swim test will be accompanied by a camp counsellor in the shallow end who will remain within arms reach with a maximum of 4 children per counsellor.
• Children 6 to 9 years who can pass the facility swim test can swim on their own in the shallow and deep end.
• Children 10 years or older can swim on their own in the shallow end without completing the facility swim test. A swim test must be completed if they choose to swim in the deep end.

Registration is not required. Each location will operate on a first come, first serve basis with a maximum of 20 participants. 

A parent/guardian will be required to sign their child(ren) in with the camp staff, complete a waiver (one required for the summer) and must be within a 10 minute distance from the park with access to a mobile phone should they need to be contacted.

Fill out your waiver ahead of time and bring the copy with you. Forms will also be available onsite at the program location.

At the end of the program, a parent/guardian will be required to present photo ID matching the contact information listed before picking up their child(ren). Participants 10 years of age and older walking home from the park and play program must fill out a Permission to Sign Out Form. You can fill out your Permission to Sign Out form ahead of time or forms will also be available onsite at the program location.

Please note that washrooms and access to water are not available at Apple Valley Park.

The park and play program runs weekly from July 6 to August 28, 2026 and will not run on August 3 (Civic Holiday). Programs run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There is no supervision during lunch hour. Weekly themes will be announced in June! 

Mondays: Ianson Park at 1222 Cragg Road, Greenbank

Tuesdays: Palmer Park at 175 Water Street, Port Perry

Wednesdays: Seagrave Park at 69 Coryell Street, Seagrave

Thursdays: Apple Valley Park between 9 and 11 Orchard Road, Port Perry

Fridays: Pioneer Park at 3440 Church Street, Blackstock

Jul 6 to 10: STEM Quest

• Become a scientist, engineer, inventor, and explorer! Campers will participate in hands-on experiments, engineering challenges, space discoveries, and STEM activities. Get ready for a week filled with creativity, curiosity, and fun!

Jul 13 to 17: Sports Showdown

• The biggest sporting events come to camp! Olympic styled challenges, World Cup competition and skill contests. Campers will test their abilities, stave active, and experience friendly competition. 

Jul 20 to 24: Backyard Battle

• Join us for a week of classic backyard fun! Campers will enjoy lawn and giant games, relays, and backyard favourites. From bocce ball and cornhole to oversized versions of classic games, each day brings a new challenge and lots of fun.

Jul 27 to 31: Amazing Race

• Ready, set, race! Each day brings a new adventure filled with term challenges, scavenger hunts, puzzles, and quests. Work together to earn points, complete bonus challenges, and climb the leaderboards. Which team will come out on top and take home the ultimate victory? 

Aug 4 to 7*: Eco Explorers

• Discover the world around you! Campers will search for wildlife, create nature themed projects, and learn about the environment through interactive games. Each day is a chance to connect with nature and discover new things! *Note this is a short week and there is no program Monday at Ianson Park.*

Aug 10 to 14: Art Adventure

• Unleash your creativity! Become an artist, designer, or a creator by exploring different forms of art through colourful projects. Let your imagination lead the way as you create, design, and explore all week long.

Aug 17 to 21: Water Wars

• Beat the heat with a week of water activities! Campers will cool off with exciting water games, relay races, and competitions. With new games each day, it's the perfect way to refresh this summer! 

August 24 to 28: Colour Cup

• Team up, earn points, and compete for the Colour Cup! Campers will take part in a variety of games, challenges, and team competitions throughout the week. Which colour team will rise to the top and claim the Colour Cup? 

• Wear closed-toed shoes
• Bring a water bottle
• Bring a hat
• Wear sunscreen

Please note electronics, toys, items of value, etc. should not be on site at any time. The Township of Scugog is not responsible for any lost or stolen items as a result of being brought to the program.

The park and play program is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather and heat warnings. In the event of sudden severe weather, parents/guardians will be contacted to pick up their children. Parents/guardians must be within a 10-minute distance from the park at all times. Get the most current updates by following our Instagram Page @RecScugog.

1. Are the children supervised over the lunch hour?
   
   No there is no supervision during the lunch hour. Children are asked to be picked up or to return home and may return at 1:00 pm for more activities.
   
   
2. Are there washrooms available at each program location?
   
   Washrooms and access to water are not available at the Apple Valley Park location.  
   
   
3. My child may need to use a puffer or EpiPen at the program. What do I do?
   
   You must complete the Permission to Administer Medication form that will be provided onsite, send the medication in the original prescribed container, and only send the correct dosage for the day. Any medication should be given to the Park and Play staff directly.
