Camps and School Break Activities

Participants can register for camp online using our registration software. Registration dates will be announced in the Leisure and Activity Guide. Registration can also be done in-person at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre or over the phone by calling 905-985-8698. If you require a payment plan, you will need to register over the phone or in-person. 

The Township of Scugog strictly adheres to the age requirements of each camp. Proof of age may be required for select programs. 

Camp Scugog takes great pride in the amazing leaders we have providing engaging activities for all campers. All leaders are required to have certification in Standard First Aid and CPR level C as well as High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development. Leaders also receive extensive pre-season training focusing on leadership, inclusion, safety, and creativity while maintaining a child-first approach.

Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Extended care supervision is also offered at an additional cost in the morning from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and in the afternoon from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Township of Scugog provides integrated experiences for eligible children requiring extra support. To ensure a recreational or camp experience is provided to as many participants as possible, requests for March Break support are required by November 1 and Summer support by February 1 to allow adequate time to assess and arrange for program support. 

You may need extra support if: 

• Extra support is used at school 

• Extra help is needed at home for basic care 
• You have a physical, medical, behavioral and/or developmental disability that could affect your safety or ability to participate 

The Township of Scugog has the right to remove participants from a program if they cannot follow the code of conduct. The Township of Scugog Refund Policy will apply.

Each camper will be asked to agree to a code of conduct while at camp. Campers who are unable or unwilling to follow the camper code of conduct may be asked to leave camp to protect the safety of all participants. 

We will continue to use the communication app ClassTag for photo sharing and communication throughout the day. Once you have downloaded the app instructions on how to sign up will be delivered via email. ClassTag is only used for Summer, March Break and Winter Camps not for PA Day camps.

Campers should bring a nut free lunch, snacks, refillable water bottle, non-mark running shoes, and extra pair of clothing. All items should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Personal belongings and toys will not be permitted at camp.

Please apply sunscreen to your child(ren) every morning before drop-off as staff are not permitted to apply sunscreen.

If a camper falls ill while at camp, they will be placed in a quiet room with a staff person and isolated from the rest of their camp group. The parent/guardian will be contacted to pick up their camper immediately.
