Scugog Fire and Emergency Services is a composite department with Career Staff and Volunteer Firefighters providing fire protection services out of 2 fire stations. 

Station 61 - Port Perry

Station 62 - Caesarea

  • 3550 Regional Road 57, Caesarea 

The Department's team of Emergency Responders exercise diverse skill sets during community emergencies that include; fire suppression, community hazards, medical emergencies and rescues both on land and water. 

Training and Professional Development, led by the Department's Training Officer, deliver programs through mandatory participation to achieve and maintain local and Provincial training requirements. 

Fire Prevention and Public Education activities led by the Department's Fire Prevention Officer, deliver programs and enforcement as we strive for a fire safe and resilient community. 

Scugog Fire & Emergency Services maintains a database of individuals with disabilities or special needs, who might require special assistance in the event of a fire or other emergency. This allows us to be aware of your needs and serve you better. If you would like to have yourself or a loved one added to this database, please complete the form below.

Scugog Fire and Emergency Services has Tanker Shuttle Accreditation for both Station 61 (30 Crandell Street, Port Perry) and Station 62 (3550 Durham Regional Road 57, Caesarea).

If you are a homeowner and your residence is located within 8 km (by road) of either station, you may qualify for a discount to your home insurance. Additionally, if you own a commercial business located within 5 km (by road) of either station, you may qualify for a discount to your insurance. Check with your insurance provider.

The training room at the Port Perry Fire Hall can be rented for private events. 

There is a minimum 2 hour rental, with rates at $80.23/hour + HST. Room rental is subject to availability. There must be 30 days' notice in advance before the desired event date.

The Township of Scugog's Open Air Burning By-law regulates burning in the community. There are several categories of burning, including:

  • Recreational burning
  • General open air burning
  • Oversize burning (property must be at least 10 acres)
  • Agricultural burning
  • Specialty burning

Guidelines for general and recreational burns, as well as frequently asked questions and the burn permit application form can be found on the Township burning and burn permits webpage.

To help combat this risk and keep rural residents safe, Scugog Fire and the Region of Durham have partnered with Farm 911: The Emily Project. This voluntary safety initiative encourages rural landowners to request a civic address and sign for their properties’ entrances.

There are many public education programs available for students, residents, organizations and groups in the Township. 

Some of our public education programs are listed on our Fire Prevention and Public Education webpage. To request a presentation that will meet the needs of your audience, please complete the form below.

Public Education request forms should be submitted at least 30 days ahead of the event, to ensure that Fire Prevention has time to review the application, gather relevant educational materials, and assign staffing.

Our Fire Prevention Officer enforces the Ontario Fire Code. It is the responsibility of the homeowner, business owner, building owner, etc. to ensure that a building is in compliance with the Ontario Fire Code at all times. When a violation of the Ontario Fire Code is observed by the Fire Department, the owner may be charged.

If you have a fire safety concern, you can request a complaint inspection using the form below. All personal information will remain confidential.

You can also request a general fire safety inspection as required for licensing, real estate transactions or to simply confirm that your building is in compliance with the Ontario Fire Code. Fees may apply for requested inspections.

Approval is required to discharge Display Fireworks or Special Effect Pyrotechnics. Display Fireworks are the higher level of fireworks. They are more explosive and can cause fires and severe injuries. These can only be discharged by a qualified person. Anyone applying for a permit must have a license issued by Natural Resources Canada. 

Applications for professional fireworks displays must be submitted at least 30 days ahead of the event, to ensure that Fire Prevention has time to review the application and provide notification to applicable persons.

If, while attending your residence, Scugog Fire and Emergency Services observed contravention(s) of the Ontario Fire Code and provided you with an Assessment form, you may use the declaration form below to acknowledge that the remedial work noted on the Assessment Form has been completed.

This form should only be completed if you have been in contact with the Fire Prevention Officer and confirmed the requirements outlined on the Assessment Form. If you have any questions about this form, please contact Fire Prevention at 905-985-2384.
