Paying Property Taxes

There are a number of payment options for you to pay your property taxes.

You can pay your property taxes with your credit card using Paymentus, a third party service provider, which enables credit card holders to make property tax payments with Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. There is a 2.5 per cent service fee payable to Paymentus in order to use this service.

Two charges will appear on your credit card statement when you use this payment option:

  1. A principal payment amount (property tax paid), showing as a payment to the Township of Scugog
  2. A service fee amount, showing as a payment to Paymentus-Service-Fee

Steps for making a payment online:

  1. Visit the website of your banking institution
  2. Select make a bill payment
  3. Payee is Scugog Taxes or Scugog Township Tax (it may vary depending on the institution)
  4. The account number is your 15 digit roll number

Please note that internet payments take 1-3 business days to process. Therefore, please allow sufficient time for the payment to reach our office on or before the due date in order to avoid penalty charges.

Follow these steps to submit payments by mail:

  1. Attach your payment stub and make your cheque payable to Township of Scugog
  2. Write your roll number on the front of your cheque
  3. Allow sufficient time for the payment to reach our office on or before the due date in order to avoid penalty charges

We consider payments complete on the date the Finance department receives your cheque.

Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding designated holidays)

The Township of Scugog accepts payments by cash, cheque, money order, or Interac (debit card). We also accept post-dated cheques.

A drop-off box is available for your convenience at the Municipal Office to accept non-cash payments after regular operation hours.

The Township of Scugog has three types of Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) plans to choose from:

  1. Monthly PAP Plan (automatically withdraws your annual taxes in equal monthly installments on the last business day of each month from your bank account)
  2. Installment PAP Plan (automatically withdraws installment amount due from your bank account on the
    regular installment due date)
  3. Monthly Arrears PAP Plan (automatically withdrawals monthly on the 15th of each month, based on the negotiated payment amount for accounts in arrears)
