Museum Collections and Archives
The archives contain the following resources for the former Reach, Scugog, Port Perry, and Cartwright townships, now all part of the Township of Scugog:
- Assessment rolls
- Birth/death/marriage registers
- Personal and agricultural census
- Municipal records
- Newspapers
- Women's Institute records
- Deeds, maps, municipal records and school records
We also have genealogy files catalogued by family name, a number of detailed family trees from local families and an extensive photographic collection.
Access to archival holdings are available by appointment only. A small resource library is available to drop-in visitors during open hours. This resource library includes local and general history books.
Submit a Research Request
Staff and volunteers can complete research upon request.
After submitting a research request, staff will search our holdings for any related materials and update you with the findings. There is no fee for an initial search of the archives.
You can then set up an appointment to visit the research room and view any materials found. If you require accessible accommodations, please let us know when booking the appointment and we are happy to assist.
Research Fees
- Conduct your own research: $17.50 +HST (flat rate)
- Request research to be done by staff: $32.00/hour +HST
- Photo Scanning/Digital File: $17.50/photo +HST ($6.00 +HST per additional CD)
- Photocopies: $1.00/copy +HST
