Skating

The Township of Scugog offers ice programs for all ages. View our skating program schedules for the Scugog Community Recreation Centre and Blackstock Recreation Complex in the Leisure and Activity Guide. All skate programs are drop-in and no longer require pre-registration. You can purchase a 10-ticket or 20-ticket pass online for skate programs. 

Program Descriptions and Fees

All skate program fees listed below include the HST. 

Skate at your own risk in a adult-only environment. Helmets are recommended. This program is not supervised.

An open skate for all ages. Helmets recommended for all ages. Helmets required for ages 6 and under. Adult supervision required for children 7 years and under. This program is staff supervised. 

All ages, $5.00

Senior 55+, $3.50

Family: $14.25
Family admission valid for up to 2 adults and 3 children. Members must reside within the same household. 

Slower paced environment for young skaters. Parent and/or guardian must provide on-ice supervision. One parent/guardian per child at no cost. Stick and pucks are not permitted. Helmets are recommended but required for ages 6 and under. This program is not staff supervised. 

Pair of 1 Parent and 1 Tot, $4.00

Extra Child and/or Guardian, $4.00 

Play hockey just for fun at a game organized by the participants, with no contact. This program is only supervised by staff during youth shinny. Nets are on the ice for this program. Full equipment required.  

Youth 17 and under, $5.00
Adult 18+, $7.75
Senior 55+, $6.00 

An inclusive skate with lower lighting, no music, smaller groups of skaters and the allowance of mobility devices (wheelchairs, skate aids, sledges) on the ice. 

All ages, $5.00

Work on the fundamentals of hockey and improve your skills. Helmets are required. No contact, game play, or slap shots. Adult supervision is required for children 7 years and under at a ratio of one adult per three children. No nets permitted. 

All ages, $4.00
Senior 55+, $3.50

A controlled scrimmage of hockey. Full equipment and helmets required. No contact or raising of the puck. This program is not staff supervised. No nets permitted. 

Senior 55+, $3.50

Pay as you go program designed for figure skaters. Must be a Skate Canada member and accompanied by a coach before participating in the program. Proof of membership required. This program is not staff supervised. 

All ages, $7.75

Lace up and join the fun! Our skate events turn the rink into a celebration. Every event brings a new reason to hit the ice and make memories with friends and family.

Join the Grinch on ice at the Scugog and Blackstock Arenas for an unforgettable afternoon of free skating, laughter and holiday cheer.

Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the Scugog Arena

In partnership with North Durham Pride enjoy an inclusive skate this February at the Scugog Arena sponsored by Durham Tourism. 

Enjoy a free public skate with music, Drag King and Queen performances, crafts and activities, and local resources available to families. Times are to be determined - stay tuned! 

Public skate is an open skate for all ages. Helmets are required for children aged 6 years and younger but recommended for all ages. Adult supervision is required for children aged 7 years and under. The program has a maximum capacity of 160. Staff will allow admission until capacity is reached.

Get Involved

  • Have your name listed as the sponsor of the event in all marketing.
  • Have your name/logo included in social media posts and graphics to promote the event.
  • Have your name listed in the news release posted on the Township of Scugog website sponsoring the event.
  • Have your name listed on the road sign of the Scugog Arena as the sponsor of the event.
  • Have the opportunity to hang a banner in front of Ice Pad 1 on the day of the event.
  • Have the opportunity to have a table in the lobby of Ice Pad 1 on the day of the event.
