Commissioner of Oaths

The Township of Scugog’s Corporate Services department provides Commissioner of Oaths services include most affidavits, oaths and statutory declarations. The Township does not have a Notary Public and cannot notarize documents.

All parties required to sign the document must attend our office, in person, with a valid piece of government issued photo identification. Copies are not accepted. Documents should not be signed until you are in the presence of the Commissioner of Oaths.

Appointments are encouraged to ensure a staff member is available to commission a document during regular business hours at the Municipal Office, 181 Perry Street, Port Perry, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays).

Fees for 2025:

• $32.00 (incl. tax) for up to 5 signatures
• $7.00 (incl. tax) for each additional document

Payable by cash, debit or cheque (no credit card payment)

Fee Waiver: Anyone requiring the services of a Commissioner of Oaths for a pension document will have the fee waived.

We cannot guarantee that we can commission documents until reviewed by the Commissioner of Oaths.  We reserve the right to refuse commissioning services of any document.
